The University of Central Florida Cultural Heritage Alliance began in 2002 as the
Central Florida Heritage Initiative, a joint effort of the UCF College
of Arts and Sciences and the Department of State Florida Folklife
Program. As part of a plan to establish a Central Florida Folklife program, the Alliance completed a folklife survey of traditional artists and a folk-arts-in-education project focusing on foodways and film the Parramore district of Orlando. Visit our Projects and Research sections to learn more about these and our other regional activities.
In addition, partnership agreements, in particular Memoranda of
Understanding (MOUs) have been obtained between the Alliance and area
organizations. These organizations serve as the Alliance's primary focus
groups. Visit our Networking page for more information on how the Alliance works with these groups.
Today the Alliance is centered in the Film Department at UCF and is supported by grants from the National Endowment for
the Arts (NEA) and the UCF College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Kristin
Congdon is Director and Dr. Natalie Underberg is Program Coordinator for the Alliance.
